The Secret Place
Psalm 91:1 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
This year, it seems we have had some lovely warm days, although some of them were almost too hot for the chilly weather Canadians. If you are from a warm climate, you know the days, the kind that makes your skin burn when the blazing rays of the sun beam down. The days, wherein, it is almost impossible to look up without an intense glare and sting in your eyes from the bright yellow-orange sun.
The plants in my garden, also overwhelmed by the high heats, their leaves and flowers wilted, often we watered them more than one time a day. Too hot, kids from the neighbourhood hid out inside their homes or slid across the playground fields upon home made plastic water slides.
Having been born and raised in Florida as a child, days like this, we spent at the beach or laying about because the high temperatures seemed to suck all of the energies. Stopping us from our usual rambunctious childhood playtime, and in those days having no air conditioning, we only suffered as the fan pushed more warm air out against us. More fortunate now, however, I can escape the scorching heat into the sanctuary of my home to cool down; but, having no greenhouse, my plants still suffer from too much heat.
A couple of days ago, I peered out of the window and saw something which I am sure was just the way the plants were growing, but it reminded me of God’s great love. The delicate flower of a dahlia plant was tucked beneath the large leaf of a sunflower as if it covered itself from the intense rays of the sun. It was such a spectacular site to me, and I decided to talk about it on my blog.
The sunflower leaf, I will liken to God, covered the beautiful flower as if it hid it from the penetrating rays of the sun to protect it from the sweltering heat energies while safeguarding its petals and leaves from baking. In comfort, the dahlia subsisted through the day in the cool shade under the leaf of the sunflower, while stems on the same plant bent over and their delicate petals wilted. This event, I find similar to our walk with God, when we put our trust in Him, like the dahlia, we can abide in his great love knowing that He is there shielding and protecting us throughout all of our days upon this earth; regardless of what is happening to others around us. Even in the midsts or storms, God promises to take care of us. Psa 91:7 “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”
As the dahlia hid under the leaf of the sunflower, I now bury myself under the pillow of God’s love and believe that He is the Lord of my life’ and in doing this everything works out in the end. Although sometimes, no answer seen in my surrounding, discouragement tries to come to me because things are not going as I expected them, I know there is always a hope within my spirit, and I only need to follow the peace in my heart. As I have said so many times before, through it all, He has been faithful to his word, delivered me, and also blessed me when I thought there was no way out of the problem. Rom 8: 28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Know that God is on the throne, regardless of what others in the world say, He has control and is not weak. He is a God of love and does not want anything to harm you because you are his child. Although difficulties are upon you, he intends to help, if you will only trust him. You might not see Him, but you do not see the air you breathe either; however, have faith in the fact that it will be there every morning you wake up to sustain your life.
Just like the air, God’s presence is all around; He may hate the ways of this world, but he loves the people. God’s heart aches from the unbelief because He only wants to protect and give a life of peace and joy too. Your circumstances might be monetary related, health issues, or just lack of peace and rest in your mind; but remember when you trust in Him, God will supply everything you need, supernaturally providing an emotion of peace in your heart, taking away the worry and stress.
Mat 11: 28 -30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
